Beginner's guide

Tormya is a 3D online role-playing game with the soul of the classics: a big open world, monsters that drop real loot, skills that grow as you use them, quests from the people of six towns, dungeons for your party and a world shared with other players.

1. Create your hero

Create an account on this website (or in the game), then create a character: choose a name and one of the five classes. Turn on Hardcore mode if you want a single life (+10% experience - but death is permanent). The game updates itself: when you start it, it checks for a new version, downloads only the changed parts and restarts on its own.

2. Controls

W A S DMove (relative to the camera). S walks backwards.

3. First steps in Dawnhold

The temple of Dawnhold - your first steps start here
  1. You start in the temple of Dawnhold. Talk to Priest Tobias: click him, then choose Quest - or type hello and quest in the chat.
  2. Visit the smith and the alchemist - buy a better weapon and a few health potions.
  3. Train your skills on the Training Dummies in the barracks south of the temple - they never die and every hit raises your weapon skill.
  4. Hunt rats, snakes and wolves around the town. Always carry food - without it your health and mana do not regenerate.
  5. Follow the quest chain of the town guards (rats → wolves → goblins → the Goblin Chieftain). The golden ! above an NPC means a quest is waiting.

4. How characters grow

  • Level - from experience for monsters and quests. Every level gives more health, mana, capacity and speed.
  • Skills - fist, sword, axe, club, distance, shielding and magic level rise by using them.
  • Talents - from level 10 you get a talent point every 3 levels (talent trees).
  • Equipment - better items drop from stronger monsters; magic, rare, epic and legendary items have bonus stats.
  • Bestiary (I) - every kill counts: you learn the health, experience and loot of each monster, and a completed entry gives +5% damage against it.

5. Death

When you die you lose 8% of your experience, a little skill progress and maybe some items, and you wake up in the temple of your home town. A window shows who hurt you in your last seconds (death recap).

Priest Tobias gives the Blessing of the Dawn

Blessing of the Dawn - greet the priest in any temple and say bless: for 2,000 gold (more from level 31, at most 20,000) your next death costs only half the experience and skill, and you keep all your belongings. A golden icon under your portrait shows the blessing; it fades when you die. An Amulet of Loss (sold by priests) also protects your items once. Gold in the bank is always safe. Temples and depots are protection zones - nobody can attack you there. Players with a red skull lose everything, blessed or not.

6. Where next?

Explore the world map, pick quests that match your level, gather a party for the dungeons, learn a profession, hunt the boosted creature of the day for double experience, rent your own house in town (from level 8, /house), sell rare treasures to Haddar the Wanderer (/merchant tells you where he is today), share the loot fairly with the party hunt analyser and one day sail to the Eastern Reaches. All game systems are explained in Game systems.
